Fire Red Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi var. “Fire Red”) are a striking freshwater shrimp variety prized for their deep, vivid red coloration. They are one of the most popular choices for aquarists due to their beauty, peaceful temperament, and ease of care. These shrimp are especially eye-catching in planted tanks, where their bold color stands out against green plants and dark substrates.

To thrive, Fire Red Cherry Shrimp require stable and clean water conditions. Ideal parameters include:

• Temperature: 68–78°F (20–25.5°C)

• pH: 6.5–7.5

• GH (General Hardness): 6–8 dGH

• KH (Carbonate Hardness): 3–6 dKH

• Ammonia/Nitrite: 0 ppm

• Nitrate: <20 ppm

They are sensitive to poor water quality, so a cycled tank, regular water changes, and gentle filtration are essential. Avoid copper-based medications, as copper is toxic to shrimp. Provide plenty of hiding spots using live plants, mosses, or shrimp-safe décor to help them feel secure, especially during molting.
